Hello from Broom House

Hello from Broom House

Can you believe we are already into March? It seems like just yesterday our family made the move from Scotland to Egton Bridge right before Christmas excited to begin our new adventure of running Broom House!

We wanted to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves as the new owners of Broom House. We are a family of 3 – Luke, Brianne and Eve Cockill. Luke grew up in the picturesque village of Sandsend, only 15 minutes from here, in his family’s hotel. I grew up in the States and met Luke when we were both working at Deer Valley Ski Resort in Utah. Our daughter, Eve, is 10 and was born in Salt Lake City, UT. Nearly 7 years ago, we moved to Scotland to run an exclusive-use venue overlooking Loch Lomond. We have always enjoyed working in the hospitality industry and you could say it runs in our blood so when we found Broom House, we knew this was an opportunity we could not pass up!

We have been extremely busy since the New Year and in the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing some of the changes we have made to the property as we put our stamp on it. We are really excited to welcome guests to Broom House!

All the best,

Brianne, Luke and Eve

Robin Hoods Bay and a drive out

Robin Hoods Bay and a drive out

We like to think up ideas for days out for our guests. Today we have the following suggestions.

Take a trip to Robin Hood’s Bay & enjoy exploring this beautiful seaside village. Stroll along the beach & find the Cleveland Way back to the village. Check out the local shops & cafes. Falling Foss is a lovely hidden gem that is about 10 minutes away.

Alternatively, enjoy a country drive over the North York Moors and take time to explore Castle Howard, one of Britain’s finest historic houses. Dalby Forest is also on the way and you can enjoy miles of walking or cycling.

All the best,

Brianne, Luke and Eve

A day out in Sandsend and Whitby

A day out in Sandsend and Whitby

Fancy a trip to the beach! We are located within 15 minutes to Sandsend and Whitby Beach. Enjoy fossilising along the caves at Sandsend then a pizza at Tides or take a surfing lesson on Whitby Beach followed by a coffee and ice cream at Clara’s.

Find yourself strolling through Whitby’s Old Town. Climb the 199 steps that lead to the famous Whitby Abbey & see where Bram Stoker got his inspiration for Dracula. Take a boat trip out of the harbour & finish off the day with some amazing Fish and Chips.

What could be better!

All the best,

Brianne, Luke and Eve
